City of Erie
|
Erie is a unique town that is situated ½ in Boulder County & ½ in Weld County. Founded in 1871 after the Briggs Mine started operations. Reverend Richard Von Valkenburg founded Erie and named the town after Erie, Pennsylvania, where he had preached in the coal fields prior to coming to Colorado. Erie was a train stop for passengers going from Brighton to Boulder and the old Main Street still has many of the original buildings that today house small shops.
Erie is composed of 14 square miles and is a wonderful mixture of the "Old & New". There is the Town Fair, Hot air Balloon Festival, and in July and August "The Concert In The Park Series" is great fun. The New Vista Ridge Championship Golf Course is a must for golfers.
