City of Lyons
Lyons is surrounded by Red Sandstone Mountains and was founded by Edward S.. Lyon in 1880. The Sandstone is famous for the Salmon color and is the same stone that is used in The University Of Colorado Boulder campus buildings. With the railroad being brought in the late 1800’s many families settled in Lyons to work in the stone quarries.
Lyons is located 20 miles from the entrance to "Rocky Mountain National Park" and is a popular destination town year round. Known for the many preserved historic buildings that are filled with Antique shops, boutiques and restaurants. Today Lyons has a vibrant Art and Music scene, Bluegrass as well as Celtic Music Festivals are celebrated here every year.
